I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older, but lately I have been listening to my wife more. She’s asked me to pause my old rock and roll habits and to do some more “family man” shenanigans. She asked me if we could spend this pandemic lockdown time period making our home more snazzy. I researched some design ideas and methods and I wanted to share what I learned.
No matter what decor theme or design ideas you have followed, every home is in need of some additional space. Whether you live in a small apartment or a large detached home, it is always important to maximize space and create a welcoming and spacious feel. Your ideas should not be limited to any one room, instead, it is necessary to think creatively about almost every part of your home. There are many creative strategies that you can try for enhanced home improvement.
Create a more open entryway
The entryway is the most important area of your home where you come home after a long day and welcome your guests for parties and weekends. Therefore, the foyer of your home must be functional and efficient. You can maximize space by arranging storage vertically. For example, you can hang shoes on the shoe rack and use wall-mounted hooks to hang clothing. Consider adding a large mirror, as this naturally creates visual space expansion.
Add functionality to your cooking and dining space
In most homes, the kitchen is the busiest space. Cooking can be stressful, but you can make cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner easier by adding functionality. Try to maximize space by using vertical storage arrangements and use drawers or cabinets to store food items. In addition, add shelves for pots, pans, and cooking appliances.
Expand your bathroom
This is the space that most see first in the morning and last at night. Getting ready for work in the mornings can be a nightmare if your bathroom is cluttered and tight. It is possible to maximize the space in the bathroom so that you can get ready each day in peace. For instance, shared bathrooms may require more shelves and drawers to store items in a more organized manner. Consider adding drawer organizers and dividers to keep makeup, skincare, medicine, and other self-care accessories organized.
Elevate your living room
There is no doubt that sometimes your living room may be the messiest room in your house. As the living room is usually where most of the activity happens, this is the space that people like to focus their home improvement efforts. If you are in need of more storage options, you can maximize space by adding multifunctional furniture such as a coffee table with drawers and open shelves. You can also get creative with sofa arrangement to add more space.
Revive your bedroom
Sleep and rest are critical. Your bedroom should create a relaxing and rejuvenated feeling. After all, this is the room where you come to sleep after a long tiring day. It is best to treat your bedroom as a sanctuary. As the adage goes: “out of mind, out of sight.” If you don’t have one already, consider building a walk-in closet. A painting or mirror on the wall adds luxury instantly.
Have you ever looked at your life and wanted to start over?
Because…I have. Like most artists, I am never quite satisfied with reality as it is. I have always believed in the possibilities of creating something new, impactful, and amazing. I believe that this creative drive is innate within every artist. Sometimes it leads me into chaos, like not sleeping for 3 days in a row, and other times, it leads to a masterpiece—like my second critically acclaimed studio album. There is no way to predict where your ideas will lead you.
I believe that life is far too short for it to stay the same for too long. We are, after all, human, and that means our tastes and preferences change over time. Some of us will come to despise what we once loved, or we will come to find that that which we once could not get enough of, is now boring. In these cases, I don’t think of it an inconvenience to change things up and get to work—I see it as an opportunity. Tearing down the old and familiar can be messy, yet exhilarating.
I’ve been wanting to remodel our house for the past year. The architecture and style of my home had been largely influenced by my grunge rock days. I was into that. It’d be typical for me to wake up in the evening and not be able to tell if it was morning or evening. The house had a bit of a dark, mysterious feel to it, no matter the time of day.
But I started thinking that maybe I wasn’t getting the most out of life, living this way. I thought about moving to a new home, but I simply love Orange County too much. That’s when I thought about renovating my home, transforming it into a brighter and more open space.
I knew I needed to find the best team of designers, painters, carpenters, and architects. I googled “home remodeling orange county” and was delighted to find Inspired Remodels, a design and build contractor! I checked out their website and discovered that they can do it all: bathrooms, kitchens, full interiors, and custom carpentry. I knew I had to give them a call to see if they could take on the remodel I had in mind.
Sure enough, they assured me that my project could be completed by their team “from floor to ceiling.” That was relieving. I certainly wanted to have no part in the process; if it were left to me, I’d create a disaster. I will always just stick to making music, not renovating homes. I also looked up their reviews on Yelp—and they are fantastic. Moreover, their online portfolio had exactly what I was looking for.
The renovations were complete a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t be happier with my new home. I find myself waking up a lot earlier. Hello, productivity!

Hey there! I hope everything is doing rockalicious this Christmas season!
I just got back from an amazing tour around Southeast Asia. Wonderful people there.
While I was gone, I was having my home remodeled. We had it all planned out so that the work would be done when I was on tour and it would be ready to go when I got home for the holidays. And let me tell you, the guys I worked with did not disappoint!
I’ll just show you what I’m talking about with some pictures of my freshly remodeled home.
First up, here’s my kitchen:
I love the overhead lights and the tile backsplash along the wall. The tile flooring also looks amazing. You should have seen this place beforehand!
Next, check out my bathroom:
That sliding door is so sick and the bathroom looks amazing, my wife loves the white countertops and sinks. And that is just the guest bathroom, here is the one in the master:
I love tile, you can probably tell. I was so excited to get these pictures up I haven’t even had a chance to use the shower! Next up, check out this iron railing they did by my stairs:
I think this looks so cool. It’s fresh and modern. And you have to check out this, it was a dream of mine. It is a fireplace bathroom!
The fireplace is right next to the tub! How awesome is that! And then the TV above it. I will spend hours in that tub!
Alright, the last one for the home tour, check out my remodeled fireplace:
The stone wall all the up to the ceiling is exactly what I wanted! Not only does it all look amazing, but they got it done just in time for the holidays. This is going to be the perfect place to host Christmas with my family!
Now I just need to get all of my decorations up!
So thankful for these guys, if you are looking to get your own remodeling done you can find them here:
